The causes of fibromyalgia are currently unknown. It is possible that sleep disturbances may play a role in the cause of the condition. Or possibly a virus could be a cause. In terms of gender, fibromyalgia plays no favorites. Men and women of all ages can get the disorder. However, it is most common in women between the ages of 20 and 50.
